Intro: Currently college campuses are in full swing with spring practices. The March/April time is where the coaches also go into their evaluation periods for the next years recruiting class. One of the sleepers in the 2011 class is Gordon Hill. Gordon has been talking with a lot of schools lately and it is only a matter of time before offers start coming his way. He has taken unofficial visits to UConn, Rutgers and Penn State. Gordon has a 3.3 GPA and is looking to major in Business where he would eventually like to take over his fathers business as a financial advisor. Following in his fathers footsteps will allow the business to stay in the Hill family and continue to be successful. When asked about his plans for the future he stated “My hopes for the future are that I am playing at some D1 football program. If I make it to the NFL play a couple years. If that doesn’t work out be a coach somewhere and be a financial advisor” Besides academics Gordon is looking for a school to give him a comfortable feeling. He is paying a lot of attention to colleges with a good atmosphere and where he could feel comfortable attending for the next four years of his life. Gordons dream school is Virginia Tech. He doesn’t plan on enrolling early and states distance is a factor in that he would not want to go over to the west coast to play football. Gordon compares his style of play to Toby Gerhart and Shonn Greene. When asked who has been the most influential person in his life he responded with “My Sister Tesha, because she always gives me advice about life and is always helpful whenever I need her.” Gordon is real excited about the upcoming football season. He is looking to perform better on the field and for his team to repeat as State Champs! So far his favorite highlight of his high school career is having two touchdowns and two interceptions in the state championship game. According to him his second interception in the game locked up the win for his team. When asked about what he can bring to the college level, he replied with “I feel I can bring a humble young man that wants to work hard to be the best he can be. A player that when he has the ball is just waiting to make a play. On defense he is a ball hawking playmaker that wants to get the ball back.”

Analysis: Gordon is the kind of back that is not afraid to lower his shoulder and run through a defender. He has good ability to catch the ball. Gordon has good initial burst but must work on long end speed. Gordon is able to read his blocks and use his vision and initial speed to get to the second level. He has the ability to be elusive and cut back if the original hole is filled. On defense he his a physical corner who can cover and step up and stop the run if need be. After watching his film its easy to see why so many schools are interested in Gordon. Its only a matter of time before his offers start coming in.
