2011 Prospect Profile: LB Antoine Pozniak

Antione Pozniak-LB-6'3" 215
Oakridge Military Academy, Oak Ridge NC
4.5, 40 yard-dash
Offers: Illinois

Interests: LSU, Miami, Tennesee, South Carolina, Michigan, Rutgers, NC State, Cal, Alabama, Florida

Video:

Prep: (FR) No stats reported (SO) 90 tackles, 4 sacks. (JR) 154 tackles, 2 INT, 2 sacks and 4 forced fumbles

Intro: Don’t be fooled into thinking Antoine Pozniak is not a legitimate Division 1 prospect just because he is attending a prep school. Antoine stepped onto the recruiting scene a little late last year and now has the benefit of an extra year to find a school that is a perfect fit. Antoine carries a 2.7 GPA and would like to be able to work with children after he graduates from college. Working with children will allow Antoine to accomplish his future goal of being a successful person and making a difference. Growing up he watched Brian Cushing so closely he now compares his own playmaking abilities to that of Cushing’s. Antoine is working hard preparing for the upcoming season by getting better and attending such camps as Football University (PA), Top Gun, Under Armour combine and the National Underclassmen Combine. Antoine can’t wait for the upcoming season. He is most looking forward to “playing in a 3-4 (defense) and dominating trying to win it all!” He may be focused on the next-level but he will never forget the great times during his high school football career, “playing an entire second half cramped on and when we needed the onside recovery, recovering it. Also, just making big time plays to win games. It's nice to take over games and being accounted for every play.” Antoine has taken unofficial visits to South Carolina, Southern Cal and LSU. Antoine would like to enroll early and says distance is not a factor in his decision of which school to attend. “Leadership, tremendous attitude, and raise the level of play of those around me” are attributes Antoine feels he can bring to the collegiate level.

Analysis: Antoine plays with a high-motor. In just his JR year alone he recorded 154 tackles. A great attribute to Antoine’s play is his ability to cover the field sideline-to-sideline. He has the speed and athleticism to be able to drop back into coverage and the strength and size to be an effective run-stopper. If not properly blocked he has the ability to beat opposing lineman with a quick first and the athleticism to maneuver around and locate the ball carrier. Antoine plays with high drive. He is the type of linebacker that takes charge and plays hard on every play. He has the experience playing down on the defensive line, as well as, standing up at the linebacker spot. Antoine is a determined player who understands what aspects of his game he needs to improve on, “foot work, getting off of blocks by punching and using hands because in college you will never make a lay taking on blocks with your shoulders, and just being more physical at the point of attack.”

2012 National Prospect Profile: LB Quanzell Lambert

Quanzell Lambert-LB-6’1" 222
Erial, NJ – Timber Creek High School
4.6, 40 yard-dash
Interest: Open to any school
Prep: No stats reported

Intro: Quanzell Lambert is a talented player who has been playing behind Timber Creek standout Quinton Alston. Quinton is a highly-touted LB prospect and Quanzell has been learning a lot from Quinton and is awaiting his opportunity to take the reigns of the defense. Quanzell hopes to major in Mechanical Engineering in College. He is open to all schools and says distance isn’t going to be a factor in his future decision. When asked what he looks for in a college he replied with, “There coaching abilities in pushing men to do and be the best at my position and motivating me in life.” When he gets the chance to visit campuses he is mostly looking for campuses that have strong academic and athletic programs. Quanzell’s number 1 goal in life is to simply “reach my goal in life.” After college he would like to fix cars and other equipment. While he is open to any schools what he feels he can bring to the next level is specific. He feels he can bring “attitude, motivation, dedication (and bring) great times together with the team” When asked whom is the most influential person in his life, Quanzell responded with “God first, but on earth has been my father because he had a hard life and never got anything he wanted in life he had to go and earn it.” He is working very hard to get ready for the upcoming football season. What he looks forward to the most is simply being better than he was the day before. He is also looking forward to playing ot the best of his abilities and giving it his all on and off the field. Quanzell’s favorite highlight from his football career is simply “hitting people” That is spoken by a true linebacker!

Analysis: Quanzell is a hard-hitting run stopper.  He is what most defensive coaches would call a "hunter" which is the type of LB that excels in being able to freely hunt down the ball carrier and take them down. There are times where Quanzells decision making to commit to the run needs to be slightly faster but game-time experience will fix that.  Quanzell has good speed for a LB. A great attribute of Quanzells playmaking is his ability to play sideline-to-sideline.  He is the type of LB that opposing teams must take into consideration.  Teams are going to need to attempt to double team him in order to slow his point of attack.  With continous practice and hard work look for this LB to have a big junior year.

Info: Kyle Carter is a sleeper prospect in the 2011 class. He has reliable hands and has the elusive ability to gain considerable yardage after a catch. His height allows him to "go up and catch the ball." He has a good frame for college strength and conditioning coaches to build upon. Along with his catching abilities, he is a good blocker. He uses his hands and leverage to be open up lanes for the ball carrier. He admits he needs to work on his strength and speed. Both of which he will be able to obtain with enough hard work and dedication. Kyle has a 3.67 GPA and would like to major in Exercise Science or Sports Medicine. If the NFL doesn’t pan out he would like to use his degree to become a Sports Therapist at the high school, college or professional sports level. He lists Maryland as his dream school. In his quest to pick the right school, the three biggest factors, besides academics, are: atmosphere, facilities and coaches. Kyle compares himself to Tony Gonzalez but idolized Julius Peppers growing up.  He credits his parents as being the biggest influence in his life because according to him “they push me to strive to be my best.” When asked what he brings to the next level he replied with “i feel I can bring a physical presence that can make tough catches and is a big target for any college qb(quarterback)” Kyle feels his greatest achievement is being named All-Conference on offense and defense and winning a State Championship in Basketball in 2009. His favorite highlight so far in his high school football career is the memory of his first varsity TD in a game again Ceasar Rodney. He stated “it was an amazing feeling and I got a lot of support.” Kyle and his teammates are focused on next season. He looks forward to a lot of guys coming back and them being in a position to win the state championship. According to Kyle, “This offseason I organized alot of my teammates n (and) I to have private workouts and got them to come to some camps with me. The 2011 class seems a lot more focused on winning the championship. We will be a top flight team in DE if not the best.” Kyle witnessed two of his former teammates go to D1 schools in 2009. With a strong senior season and hard work on and off the football field he may very well end up following down the path of his former teammates.
