Intro: Jazzmar Clax is the type of player coaches and parents a-like hope to have and be able to coach. Jazzmar is a smart and gifted student-athlete. In the classroom he carries a 4.2 G.P.A. and hopes to major in either Engineering or Business Marketing in college. Jazzmar knows the importance of academics. When asked how important it is to him, he replied with, “I want the academics to be equal to my competition of play in my college choice” Jazzmar has been hearing a lot from schools such as Purdue and Syracuse but has not been on any visits. He admits his dream school is Penn State but is open to other schools because distance isn’t an issue for him. When asked what he looks for in a college he replied with “Nice surroundings, friendly peoples, warmth to feel at home” Besides the surroundings, friendly people and academics, one of the biggest factors in his decision about a school is actually how well he perceives the student-athletes at being able to balance between academics and athletics. He will evaluate those aspects by seeing first-hand how well the athletic facilities are set-up and how available the academic recourses are to students. Jazzmar certainly has the grades and athletic ability to attend any college of his choosing. One thing is for certain he does plan on enrolling early.
Jazzmar comes from a medium-sized family. He credits his mother as being the most influential person in his life because “she always guided me toward the right path” In regards to his future he just wants to get an academic or athletic scholarship and graduate from college. His goal of an academic scholarship in not far fetched. He is a talented 2012 LB prospect. He compares himself to NFL MLB Jonathan Vilma. In 2005, Vilma lead the NFL in tackles with 173. Jazzmar also plays varsity basketball but his real love is football. He is working hard to prepare for the upcoming season and is most looking forward to dominating his competition. When asked what he brings to the n ext level he responded with “I’m a team player and in crunch time I can bring and make big plays for my team.”
Analysis: Jazzmar is a prospect in the 2012 class I am excited about. He still has a lot of time to grow. As he grows he will only get stronger and play with more ferocity. He plays with the same attitude one would expect from a hard-hitting LB. He is quite simply a run-stopper who quickly fills the gaps and will stuff the ball-carrier even before they hit their hole. Jazzmar has the strength to be able to get off his blocks to make an effective tackle. One area he can improve on is in his decision making. Jazzmar takes just a second longer than he should to commit to the run or pass. With more time and experience on the football field this is not an area of concern. Jazzmar has the size, speed and attitude to make a significant impact at the next level.
