Hilliard Davidson Star Rico Butler Updates "The Zone" On His Recruitment

Hilliard Davidson star RB Rico Butler contacted Michgan Sports Zone this morning to update us on what has been going on with his recruitment.  He tells us that he still has only one official offer from Illinois and they have asked him to visit on April 3.  He also tells us that Minnesota, Cincinnati, Boston College, and Toledo have shown the most interest lately.  Minnestoa told him yesterday that they are planning on having a meeting with the staff this week and that an offer could be coming soon from the Golden Gophers.  Cincinnati and Toledo have shown alot of interest in the past week also.  Rico stated that he doesn't have a "favorite" school yet but he did say that "Michigan was my early favorite, but they offered others at my position and I'm not sure what their plans are for me down the line." Rico plans on attending Michigan's spring game April 17 and I will be sitting down with him at that time for a face to face interview and see where he is at in his decision on which school to attend.  I did talk with Hilliard Davidson Coach Brain White regarding Rico and he stated that "Rico did have a disappointing Jr. season due to an injury that kept hime out most of the season." Coach White also stated "Rico is a very elusive back with excellent speed, he also is a very strong weight room kid as well, with close to a 400 lb parallel squat, and an above 300 lb hang clean. Rico continues to build body mass, and we look for Rico to have a great senior year as he becomes our primary threat on offense."

During our conversation this morning Rico did assure me that he is going to take his time and make the decision that is best for his future both football wise and academically.  Barring any major injuries this season Rico should get some more offers before January comes around with his speed and talent level.  Keep checking back with Michigan Sports Zone for more updates on Rico Butler.
