HD's Octagon---Things I like, things I don't like, things I want

                                                           May 13th 2010      6 a.m

Welcome back Michigan fans...I hope you all are as ready as I am for football season!! Some things that I've been told and that I also read that has me thinking way to much right now...I have to get some things off my chest in order to march to the beat of a different drum...Thanks for making the Michigansportszone what it is today and don't forget to tell your friends to add us on facebook...Those who stay--HAIL

I have always been one to take the bad news first if there was some so, that's where I am going to start on this blog as well...

              THINGS I DON'T LIKE---

What is it these days with all the in-fighting at such a prestigous University like UM? I can't wrap my head around all the turmoil coach RR has had to endure since his ARRIVAL....Now, I know that anything is fair game in regards to "the record" he has put up in the last 2 years but, IF you look at everything objectively, I think most would agree that he NEEDS time to gather all the pieces to the puzzle...He has built teams and won big at places some wouldn't expect so, I remain optimistic on what RR and staff will do to this program...What it really boils down to is the "old guard" needs to pack up and move out..I can't fathom someone claiming to be a UM man trying to dismantle something they say they love? I am absolutely SICK to my stomach each and every day that a new "story" is aired to try and ruin RR's reputation just so some folks who feel slighted can appease their own satisfaction and wants..Some days, the old school klan makes me embarrassed to say I am  Michigan fan/man....

The thing/term that ANNOYS me the most is "he's not a Michigan Man"...Could someone please expound on this subject and let me know what that means?  I mean, was Fielding Yost or Bo Schembechler Michigan Men? Not at first but, in the end they are some of the most respected guys to take over at UM and I believe RR will also be in that league once 2011 rolls around...To me, a "Michigan man" is someone who puts on the beautiful colors of Maize and Blue and gives his all to make sure we are the best we can be both on and off the field...A leader on and off the field and making these boys into young Men...Again, IF you dissect everything objectively, you will see that RR has gone above and beyond the call of duty (sans the fball record).. SO SICK OF HEARING THAT PHRASE!!!!!!

While watching the UFC fights this past weekend, I was hanging with some of my ND buddies(I live and grew up in South Bend) and one of which brought up the term " Michigan Man" and who UM should have hired...This is the one topic that puts me back into "Octagon mode" ready to put someone in a shoulder popping Kamora!! We went back and forth for a little bit on the subject but I can only say things so many times for them to SINK IN...They didn't, so I quickly squashed the subject before the "old school Willis" came out to "play" !!

It's easy to take shots at UM if you don't know anything that is or has been going on since December of 07...Or if you watch ESPN to much I can see why people's perspectives are in-my-opinion un-educated and misguided...Espn is a soap opera in the Sports World...I could write a mini-novel about all of this and I probably will do so in the future...Okay, enough with all the negativity, let's delve into something more fun, like the things  I LIKE!!

             THINGS I LIKE

The thing I like most about RR is that he knows what he's doing in all aspects of life...RR takes full responsibility for everything and anything around him...He has taken so much BS from all walks of life since arriving in A2 and he takes it on the chin like a man and re-acts appropriately...He knows we are one year away from becoming dominant and WHEN that happens I would love to see him take both middle fingers, put them in the air, and point them to all his detractors and say, "How ya like them apples?" Family values are not only practiced within the confines of his own home but with the staff, players and UM students and faculty as well..His passion for football and winning is second-to-none and very soon we will see the benefits of all their hardwork pay of ten-fold!!

What I see in the very near future(2011) is the win column amounting to and staying at or above 10 wins, year in and year out...There will be no more  losing to the Purdon'ts and Northwesterns and little brother anymore...We will be hanging 50 points on teams once the 2011 season starts...The question will then become---Can anyone in the Country stop the high octane offensive attack from the Wolverines...My answer is simple, NO!!

We will be one of, if not the fastest teams in the Country very, very soon and I can't wait for that day...This offense is predicated on using the whole field and getting your playmakers in space to make plays...Well, if  no-one can catch them, how will we lose?  This staff is relentless on the recruiting trail and one of the things I like most is they find "hidden gems" everywhere they go...Some kids who aren't rated real high on scouting sites but turn into playmaking monsters...RR and staff have landed several of these kids and we will see quite a few of them this year...

So, for all you detractors and people who want RR to fail I say this, " Be afraid, be very afraid..The UM train is on the tracks and it's about to go full steam ahead for many years to come.."  The total culture change in A2 was/is needed and I for one can't be more excited about the future of UM and RR as our coach...No more sense of entitlement..You will have to earn your job each and every year..The days of "you will be starting because of seniority" are OVER!! RR holds each and every kid accountable and we know the best 11 guys will be on the field when it's time to get the helmets cracking and the shoes laced up!! The Country Club Carr days are thankfully OVER.....

"Those who stay, will be CHAMPIONS"

            WHAT I WANT

What I want more than anything is for the University of Michigan and all its fans to get back to the level of football and academics we have all been used to for several years...We are well on our way people and once we get to that point, there will be no looking back...Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day so, let's have some patience, sit back and let RR and staff do their jobs...Once they can FOCUS on football and not the inner attempts of subterfuge, we will be bigger and BETTER than ever..Let's support our staff and players by going to the games, getting loud in the stadium and giving them the full support they need and DESERVE...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the read....Football cannot get  here fast enough and I can't wait to be in A2 on opening day to watch our beloved Wolverines MAN HANDLE the men from Uconn....HAIL

The Infighting has a huge impact on recruiting. Our opponents have been negative recruiting UM to death and we keep giving them fodder.

I totally concur with your statement CBT..The ONLY thing at this point that can turn this around is winning(as you have stated several times in our conversations)...

Let's hope that happens more than not THIS year...Thanks for the response CBT, it is always welcomed here...GO BLUE
