High School Showcase: Timber Creek Regional High School, New Jersey

Here at Michigan Sports Zone we pride ourselves on bringing you information of the best and brightest athletes from across the county. These players are suburb athletes both on-and-off the field and are looking to bring their talents to the next level. Not only are we committed to showcasing these top prospects we are also committed to showcasing the schools these future superstars are being recruited from. In today's fast paced world of recruiting, not enough attention is given to the schools and coaches that have developed these players for the last four years. At Michigan Sports Zone we believe more attention should be given to these schools and we will do just that with our “High School Showcases.” These showcases will give the schools the attention that is deserved.  The next time you see or read about a prospect, stop and take a second to learn about the school and coaches that have been such an integral part of the prospects life for the past four years.

Michigan Sports Zone offers its first High School Showcase, Timber Creek High School. Timber Creek is a young great school located in Erial, New Jersey. The school is a member of the Black Horse Pike Regional High School District. Timber Creek first opened in September of 2001 and quickly grew to 1,509 students in the 2006-2007 academic school year. Timber Creek High School sits on 278,000 square feet of land consisting of 32 academic classrooms, 12 laboratory classrooms, a music suite, 2 art classrooms, an industrial technology lab and a design-drafting classroom.

Timber Creek High School’s athletic teams are named the Chargers.  They compete in the South Jersey Group III Olympic Conference of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). Timber Creek has excellent athletic facilities including 9 athletic fields, 8 tennis courts and a lighted football stadium with seating for 1,700 fans.  Timber Creek has a proud athletic program.  In 2008 alone, Timer Creek sports teams, brought home four championship trophies from four different sports programs.  The Wrestling team, Boys Baseball Team, Boys Basketball Team and Boys Track and Field Team all won Group III championship titles. In 2009, Timber Creek's football program, continued the schools athletic success by winning a share of its conference's title and advancing to the Group III state championship game. Even though the Chargers lost it was their first appearance in the game.  Prior to the 2007 season the school had never had a .500 record or even competed in the NJSIAA playoffs. Starting in 2007, the school became a feared football program in the state appearing in three consecutive playoffs while winning the Olympic-Burlington Liberty Division title and playing in the Group III state championship game.  This feared program is lead by Head Coach Robert Hinson. Coach Hinson is in his 4th year and has a record of 24-18 overall. In his first year the team went 4-6, but has rebounded quite well, with a 20-12 record the past three years. Coach Hinson and his staff have made Timber Creek a statewide and nationally respected program. Timber Creek is the 1,475th best football team in the country and the 33rd best team in New Jersey according to Maxpreps.com.  Next season the Timber Creek Chargers will be led on offense by Scout.com 4 star Senior Damiere Byrd.  Defensively, 6'2/220 lbs Senior LB Quinton Alston will be looked upon to lead the unit. These two dynamic seniors will be leading their team as they look to get back to the title game and bring the championship trophy home to Timber Creek.
